Council orders year-round beach house replacement

The Lake City City Council appears to have settled a long-simmering debate Jan. 8 when it voted to replace the existing beach house at the Lake City Marina with one that can be used year-round.

The vote came as the council considered a request from the marina board to commission a design for a seasonal replacement with restrooms, storage, an outdoor shower and a picnic area.

Marina board member Ed Towey told the council that the existing structure is 50 years old and was likely engineered to last 30 years.
