Letter: Beware of ticks

To the editor:

Minnesota’s hidden epidemic is caused by ticks.

There are many tick-borne diseases. Lyme disease can be transmitted by an infected deer tick or black-legged tick.

A deer tick can also transmit human anaplasmosis and babesiosis.

A person can be infected with more than one of these diseases at the same time. They can be life-threatening.

Ticks can be crawling around when tempuratures are above freezing. I have seen ticks from March well into November.
