The Old Curmudgeon - 4-21-16
The Old Curmudgeon read with interest a front page article in the March 18 Rochester Post-Bulletin which reported that an effort is underway to once again put Red Wing on the map as a premiere destination for ski jumping in North America. A group of ski jumping enthusiasts is pushing to build an Olympic ski jump training facility there. Red Wing resident Jerry Borgen is rooting for it. His grandfather, Harris Andersen, was president of the National Ski Association. He still remembers watching the 1936 national ski jump competition in Red Wing that attracted thousands of people.
