Our immigration nightmare

It is hard to imagine that anyone in the U.S. is being served by the current surge of ICE troops in Minnesota.
Was there a more humane way to handle the need for border security?
Most certainly, yes.
We could have closed the border for a period of time and used the money we spend on ICE troops to hire more investigators and judges to screen all the undocumented people living here.
