Watch out for cats in your car engine
As frigid weather continues for the next several months, Hiawatha Animal Humane Society asks that you take a little extra time before setting out in your vehicle to make sure a cat has not crawled up to your engine block to seek warmth, a behavior that can be deadly to the animal.
Here are a few effective things you can do before driving away:
1. Bang on the hood before starting the car.
2. Honk your horn, if you are leaving home during normal daylight hours.
3. Open and close the hood.
4. Keep your car inside your garage.
