What's it all about? We are cookie monsters

Many of us remember the cookie jar on the counter when we were growing up. Ours was a large glass, ground coffee container with a wide screw on lid. Later, I believe we also had a piggie container with a lift-off head. They usually contained sugar cookies or chocolate chip. They were off limits except during the midmorning and afternoon coffee breaks or “lunch.” Although there could have been a bit of larceny happening occasionally. I was not a very accomplished cookie thief as I always seemed to make too much noise unscrewing the lid and leave a trail of crumbs on the counter and on myself. I quickly learned to avoid mom’s “David Ernest Ohl, get out of that cookie jar” by becoming stealthier. When the middle name was included, you knew she meant business.
