The Lake City high school baseball team was haunted twice last week by the same nemesis that’s been plaguing them for much of the season — the big inning.
Last Tuesday the Tigers trailed Plainview-Elgin-Millville (PEM) only 1-0 through four innings when the Bulldogs erupted for seven runs in the fifth inning which pretty much decided the game as PEM cruised to a 13-1 win at Bill Kieffer Field.
Wednesday the Tigers played host to Hayfield, who padded their first inning 3-0 lead with a six run second inning to propel the Vikings to a 12-1 five inning win.
