Like fathers, like sons - State basketball bond spans a generation

If Lake City High School freshmen Nathan Heise and Reid Gastner want to know what they’ll experience when their team plays in the state tournament, they don’t have to look far for answers.

Their fathers, Tony Heise and Cris Gastner, were members of the last Tiger boys basketball team to qualify for the state tournament in 1990. That team won it all.

But it wasn’t lore of playing under the lights in front of hundreds of people that got the younger Heise and Gastner interested in the sport for the first time.
