Girls win a close one on the road to advance

The No. 9 seed Lake City High School girls basketball upset No. 8 seed Dover-Eyota (DE) 57-55 on Thursday Feb. 22 to advance to the second round of the section tournament.

DE, the hosts, started with a 2-7 run over Lake City, but a three-point basket by Lilly Meincke cut the lead to just 2 points, then a quick basket from Mya Shones tied the game up.

DE took the lead for a bit but with 5:48 left in the first half, Grace Bany tied the game up at 13 apiece with a three-point play opportunity.
