Tiger duo bows in state tennis meet
The Lake City doubles team of Ava Wallerich and Ashley Thieren opened the Class A state tournament Oct. 29 at the Reed-Sweatt Family Tennis Center in Minneapolis with a loss against Joelle Thorfinnson and Makenna Hanson of Minnewaska Area, 6-3, 6-0.
Thieren and Wallerich then moved to the consolation bracket Thursday afternoon.
In their first round of consolation play the Lake City duo won their match in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 10-6 against Tori Demarais and Elisa Samuelson of Crookston.
The second round of consolation was played Oct. 30.
