Tiger girls head to state

The Lake City High School girls bowling team finds itself in a strong position heading into the state bowling tournament Saturday in Eden Prairie.

The Tigers’ 179-pin average is tops in Division 1, and they are led by Sam Smith, the division’s top bowler this year.

It’s just the fourth year for the girls team. A co-ed team will enter its seventh season. And both programs grew out of a youth program started 12 years ago by John O’Flaherty and Brent Rothgarn.
