Tiger girls win first HVL Gold title in 25 years
On Feb. 15, the Lake City Tigers girls basketball team hosted Stewartville in a big game for Lake City. A win for the local Tigers would give them a Hiawatha Valley League (HVL) Gold Division Championship for the first time in 25 years, and they did just that.
Both teams came out to play ball Friday night, with Stewartville scoring first. Lake City then got a basket of its own. The score stayed close for the first few minutes of the game, then Lake City got a spark and went ahead 12-7.
