Tigers upset by Stewartville

The journey to a potential third consecutive Hiawatha Valley League (HVL) Gold Division championship hit an unexpected bump in the road last Thursday as Lake City was stunned in Stewartville 48-44.  Stewartville scored the first 13 points of the contest and forced Lake City to play catch-up for a majority of the game.
Despite the poor start, Lake City had a chance to steal the victory in the waning moments but Marc Kjos was off the mark on a three-pointer from the top of the key.  Sam Barnes hit a pair of free throws with 11 seconds remaining to clinch the upset victory.
