Wallerich, Brunkow win section doubles title
The Lake City Tiger girls tennis team entered the individual portion of the Section 1A tournament Oct. 14 and 15 at the Rochester Athletic Club.
Seniors Ava Wallerich and Emma Brunkow were the No. 1 seed in doubles and received a round one bye on Oct. 14.
On Oct. 15, the Wallerich/Brunkow tandem defeated Ashley Johnson and Lauren Ritz of Cannon Falls 6-1, 6-3 in quarterfinal action.
The win advanced the Lake City players to face their nemesis foes from Rochester Lourdes Oct. 15. In semifinal play they battled with Eagles Sydney Elliott and Karin Hayford.
