Patrick Roberts obituary

July 7, 1979 – January 18, 2026
Patrick Shane Roberts passed peacefully from our world surrounded by family on Sunday, January 18, 2026. He was a loving and devoted husband to the love of his life Tara, a committed and proud father to Spencer, Wally, and Leo, and the kind of son, brother, and friend that brought smiles and love into your life.
Patrick loved sports from a young age, having played baseball, basketball, and football. On any given Sunday, you could always find Patrick watching all the football games, Skol Vikings of course! He was always a student of team sports with a penchant for teaching; it is no surprise he volunteered as a coach and was a fixture in Maple Grove youth sports. He appreciated the great many friends he made over the years he was involved.
Patrick was boundlessly creative, a man of letters in a world that is losing sight of what that means. He was an old fashioned romantic, writing Tara countless love letters and poetry. He loved grand stories, from high-fantasy tales to the histories of Herodotus. His mind was constantly seeking more. He enjoyed strategy board games, roleplaying games, and anything that let him spend time having fun with friends and loved ones.
He spent the last 16 months experiencing everything he could alongside those he loved, creating memories to be cherished forever. Patrick kept fighting for more time, and radiating a positive attitude that lifted everyone up around him while doing it.
Patrick is survived by his wife and soul mate, Tara Roberts; sons Spencer Parsons, Wally Parsons, and Leo Roberts; parents Harry and Debbie Roberts (Theisen); sister Stephanie McCulloch (Brent) and their children Gwenna and Ewan; brother Chad Roberts (Kristan Winters); and a community of friends and family forever touched by his kindness and presence.
A celebration of life is being held on Friday, January 30, 2026 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Kozlak-Radulovich Funeral Chapel, 13745 Reimer Drive, Maple Grove, MN 55311. Eulogy and family remembrances will begin at 4 p.m. Luncheon to follow onsite.
He always appreciated the immensity and breathtaking beauty of the natural world, particularly Minnesota’s North Shore and our national parks. In lieu of flowers, please consider planting a tree in honor of Patrick. Memorial trees may be planted through the MN DNR – Minnesota’s Future Forest Fund.
