Phyllis Morehouse obituary

Phyllis Ruth Morehouse, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in Fort Collins, Colorado, on Sunday, August 2, 2026, after a long battle with dementia. She was 91 years old.
Phyllis was born on October 8, 1934, in Red Wing, Minnesota, to Mierl and Ruth Hattemer. She grew up alongside her siblings Janice, Marlys, Joanne, Stanley, and Elliott (who passed away at age seven).
On October 20, 1956, Phyllis married the love of her life, Ed Morehouse, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake City, Minnesota. Together, they built a life and family filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Allison Walsh, Brian Morehouse and his partner, Jacque Strevey, and Stephanie Myers; her seven grandchildren, Cassandra O’Brien (Mason), Curtis Morehouse (Kaicey), Zachary Paquette, Kody Brunnemer (Lindsay), Raven Walsh (Bella), Tommy Organ, and Logan Myers; ten great-grandchildren; her brother, Stanley; and many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Ed; her sisters, Janice Peterson, Marlys Lortscher, and Joanne Kendall; and her brother, Elliott Hattemer.
A devoted homemaker, Phyllis dedicated her life to her family and took great joy in creating a warm and welcoming home. She loved cooking and gathering family and friends around her table. Known for her kind and loving spirit, Phyllis was also truly a “hoot” and brought plenty of laughter wherever she went.
Phyllis enjoyed playing tennis, cards – especially the game of Golf – and dominoes. She was also a devoted Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos fan and loved sharing those passions with her family.
Above all, Phyllis will be remembered for the family she loved deeply, the home she created, and the warmth and laughter she brought into the lives of those around her.
A celebration of Phyllis’s life will be held on June 10, 2027, at 11 a.m. at Hok-Si-La Park, 2500 N. U.S. Highway 61, Lake City, Minnesota.
The Morehouse family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Pathways Hospice in Fort Collins, Colorado, for the compassion, patience, and exceptional care they provided to Phyllis during her final days.
