Tiger girls tennis is Section 1A runner-up
The Lake City girls Tiger tennis team advanced to the semifinal round of the Section 1A team tournament Oct. 12 at the Rochester Athletic Club and defeated Cannon Falls 4-3.
Cannon Falls advanced Oct. 5 following their quarterfinal match with New Life Academy, winning 6-1.
In singles action, Ava Wallerich defeated Mia Holscher at No. 1 6-0, 6-2.
Ashley Thieren won her match at No. 2 6-0, 6-1 over Kayla Melhouse.
At No. 3 singles, Sarah Ziebarth was defeated 2-6, 3-6 by Brooke Kimmes.
Maddie Medvec was defeated 1-6, 3-6 at No. 4 by Hannah Hjellming.
